To the Citizens and Constituents of Hinsdale County,
My name is Dan Covault, and I am the Sheriff of San Miguel County, Colorado. I am writing to
publicly endorse Jordan Kaminski in his campaign for the office of Sheriff.
Several years ago, I was appointed Undersheriff in San Miguel County, during which time I met
Jordan at the County Sheriffs of Colorado Undersheriff Conference. At that time, Jordan was
serving as the Undersheriff of Hinsdale County. We quickly developed a professional
relationship and friendship, and I came to know him as a man of integrity and honesty. I found
great value in his knowledge and perspective, as we both worked in rural, mountainous
communities facing many of the same challenges.
As undersheriffs in small communities, we encountered similar trials and tribulations, and we
were able to rely on one another for honest opinions and sound advice. Jordan proved himself to
be consistently forthright and trustworthy—someone whom I could depend on without
hesitation. He is a man I would trust my life to. His moral standards are among the highest, his
knowledge of the law is extensive, and he possesses the broad skill set required of a sheriff in a
rural county that lacks the resources of larger agencies.
My confidence in Jordan’s abilities as a peace officer is so strong that I hired him as a deputy
within my own agency. Through his experience, calm demeanor, and leadership, he has mentored
many of my younger officers and has become an invaluable asset to the San Miguel County
Sheriff’s Office.
Jordan would bring these same attributes to the office of Sheriff. He is a quiet leader who leads
by example and doesn’t waver from his moral or ethical principles.
The citizens of Hinsdale County would be well served by electing Jordan Kaminski as their
Sheriff.
Respectfully, and without hesitation,
Dan Covault
Sheriff
San Miguel County, Colorado
(These opinions are solely my own and do not reflect the views of the San Miguel County Sheriff’s
Office or San Miguel County.)
I am writing to share my support for Jordan Kaminski in his candidacy for Hinsdale County
Sheriff. My perspective comes from having worked closely with him in Jackson County.
I had the pleasure of working alongside Jordan in various roles within our community. I served
as a dispatcher with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and as a paramedic, and in both
capacities I saw firsthand the kind of person and professional that Jordan is. From the moment I
met him, I felt respected and valued. He joined a small, close-knit sheriff’s office that truly
functioned as a family, and he fit seamlessly into that dynamic.
Jordan took the time to meet and get to know every individual within the office, as well as
members of other first responder agencies. Whether we were working together in the sheriff’s
office or responding to calls on scene, he treated everyone with respect. In a small town, where
differences can sometimes be magnified, Jordan consistently demonstrated fairness and never
discriminated against anyone.
While we were sad that his time in Jackson County was not longer, his leadership and
compassion left a lasting impression. He stood up for what he believed in and supported each of
us throughout his time with our department..
I fully support Jordan Kaminski in his continued endeavor to lead, serve, and grow as Hinsdale
County Sheriff.
I am honored to write this letter of recommendation for Jordan Kaminski, a man whose character, leadership, and commitment to serving others make him an outstanding candidate for Sheriff. Having worked for Jordan as a Deputy Sheriff, I can confidently attest to his unwavering integrity, his honesty in both word and action, and the genuine compassion he brings to every aspect of his life.
Jordan is a deeply principled and godly man, guided by a strong moral foundation that informs his decisions and the way he treats others. He leads with humility, fairness, and a sincere desire to do what is right—not what is convenient. These qualities are not simply traits he talks about; they are values he consistently lives out.
As a leader, Jordan is forward-thinking and solution-oriented. He brings great ideas backed by practical experience, thoughtful judgment, and a clear vision for improving the safety and well-being of our community. His leadership style inspires trust and confidence, empowering others while holding himself to the highest standard of accountability.
Jordan Kaminski is the kind of person you can rely on—someone who listens, who acts with purpose, and who stands firm in his convictions. I believe wholeheartedly that he will serve honorably, effectively, and compassionately as Sheriff.
It is my sincere pleasure to recommend Jordan Kaminski for this important role. Any community would be fortunate to have a leader of his caliber guiding and protecting it.
I am pleased to offer my perspective on Jordan Kaminski’s candidacy for Hinsdale County Sheriff, drawing from my professional experiences working with him in Jackson County.
I first met Jordan when he began his tenure as the Undersheriff for Jackson County. At that time, I was serving as the Administrative Assistant in the Sheriff’s Office. Our office was small and tightly knit, and it quickly became clear that Jordan was an outstanding addition to our team. He demonstrated adaptability and was able to integrate seamlessly, contributing positively to our collaborative work environment from the outset.
Jordan is a devoted family man, with a wonderful and supportive wife and five great children. His genuine, down-to-earth nature makes him approachable and trusted by those around him. Jordan consistently shows a strong commitment to the well-being of
others. When faced with challenges, he instinctively seeks solutions that benefit everyone involved. He values collaboration and ensures that every voice is considered in the decision-making process, always striving to find the best outcome for all parties.
Although Jordan’s time in Jackson County was unfortunately cut short, his dedication and loyalty were evident throughout his tenure. He supported the Sheriff unwaveringly until the end. When invited to remain with the incoming Sheriff, Jordan declined,
believing it was not the right fit for him. This decision demonstrates his integrity and thoughtful approach to professional matters.
I believe Hinsdale County would greatly benefit from Jordan Kaminski’s leadership as Sheriff. I wholeheartedly support his decision to run and am confident in his abilities and character.
